MUMBAI: After having cracked the whip on nearly 650 errant auto drivers in the past one month, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials now plan special classes for both auto and taxi drivers during the Road Safety Fortnight. According to RTO sources, auto drivers in the eastern and western suburbs will be imparted lessons on etiquette and moral values.
The Tardeo RTO will also hold such camps for cabbies in the island city. "We cannot continue imposing fines and suspending licences. We need to interact with the drivers and teach them to behave properly with passengers and refrain from cheating citizens," said an RTO official. "We support the training camp and will ensure that drivers participate in the lectures," said auto union leader Thampy Kurian.
