Two plead not guilty in Manners case

Two men accused in connection with the 2007 death of 15-year-old Jordan Manners pleaded not guilty in a Toronto courtroom yesterday. The two, now 20, were 17 when the shooting occurred and cannot be named under Young Offender provisions. Jury selection for the trial is several weeks away.
Mr. Manners' mother Loreen Small was in court to hear the pleas. Courtney Betty, who has acted as legal counsel for Loreen Small, Jordan Manners' mother, said he isn't surprised by the not guilty pleas. He said it could be a challenge to find impartial jurors for a school shooting case that had far-reaching effects and elicited multiple reports on how to deal with schoolyard violence.
